Varke support for your new lift
Planning a lift in an existing building? A Varke grant may reduce your housing company’s costs. Check eligibility and the application sequence before work begins.

The applicant is the organisation that owns the building, such as a Finnish housing company. Support covers a new lift in a qualifying apartment or access-gallery building.
- At least three homes
- At least two residential floors above one another
- No existing lift in or connected to the stairwell
This grant does not cover repairing or replacing an existing lift. A stairlift may qualify for separate accessibility support.
How much can you receive?
The grant covers up to 45% of eligible essential costs. The award depends on Varke’s decision and available funding. Ask your municipality separately about any local support.

This example assumes all €200,000 of costs are accepted and the maximum grant is awarded. The actual amount you fund may be higher.
How to proceed
Assessment
Assess the building, entrance accessibility and project costs.
Decisions and documents
Prepare the housing company’s decisions, plans and required attachments. Check authorisation to apply.
Application
Submit the application through Varke’s online service. Check current funding availability and any aid restrictions.
Decision before construction
Wait for a positive grant decision before starting work. An earlier start requires a separate permit.
Payment
Apply separately for payment under Varke’s instructions, in no more than three instalments.
